Mosaic Health Community Dentistry Mohawk Valley

For more information about Community Dentistry, please call 315-570-4020.

The Community Dentistry program has been providing school-based dental services to underserved and uninsured children throughout the Finger Lake’s region since 1995. Thanks to the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York’s CHOMPERS Grant award, Mosaic Health was able to expand the school-based program to the Mohawk Valley in 2015.

Community Dentistry focuses on dental prevention and education and provides quality, affordable, and accessible dental services right at your child’s school or Head Start site for children who may otherwise gone without dental care.

Each student who enrolls receives free dental health and nutrition education, a dental screening, toothbrush and floss. Our dentist/hygienist will also teach your child how to floss and brush their teeth the right way, what snacks are healthiest, and how plaque and the decay process happen. Parents/Guardians of children enrolled at participating schools may also sign up their child/children for preventive dental services that include:

  • Dental exam by a dentist

  • Dental X-rays

  • Dental cleaning

  • Fluoride Treatments

  • Dental sealants (if recommended)

What’s more, Mosaic Health Utica, Utica Dental, and Ilion provide Community Dentistry participants with Care Navigation services, assisting patients and families in search of a dental home, and facilitating insurance enrollment and/or sliding fee scale application.

Community Dentistry Mohawk Valley currently provides school-based dental services in the Utica City and Dolgeville School Districts. We hope to expand to other areas in the region soon.
