In 1932, Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt decided to build one of three new Tuberculosis Sanatoriums at 1 Murray Hill Drive in Mt. Morris to serve the western New York region because of its central location, favorable weather, and easy accessibility to rail lines and state roads.

Construction of the 200-bed facility was completed and opened in 1936. Over the next thirty-five years, the TB hospital served patients who needed several months to recuperate. Preventive efforts and antibiotics slowed the spread of tuberculosis and in 1971, the State closed the hospital.

Livingston County acquired the site in 1972 and opened a skilled nursing facility, which remained until 2004 when it was moved to a more modern facility. The building housed various county departments and agencies until Mosaic Health (formerly RPCN) renovated the space and opened the dental center.

Mosaic Health Mount Morris was opened in 2010 in order to improve access to dental care across southern Livingston and northern Steuben counties. The opening of this site was a collaboration between Livingston County Public Health and Rochester Primary Care Network with early funding provided by MVP Health Care through the Community Health Initiative Fund.  The center offers preventative, restorative and emergency dental services for children and adults.  Mount Morris patients are managed by a care team, which includes your dentist, hygienist, dental assistant and care manager, and are referred to local providers and agencies for medical, behavioral health, and non-clinical support services like health education.

The care team will make sure you receive accurate and timely treatment and can be a source of guidance, support, education, and empowerment. They coordinate appointments and services and build strong relationships with other health care team members by keeping communication lines open with each other and the patient. They will also help you:

  • Offer support, guidance, and instruction

  • Learn about the health care system

  • Understand your diagnosis and treatment

  • Find available educational resources and supportive services

  • Get answers to insurance and financial concerns by connecting you to appropriate resources

  • Coordinate appointments and transportation assistance

  • Provide the answers you need and help you understand the information delivered

  • Make referrals to appropriate services such as nutrition, case management, medication assistance, and financial counseling

Most forms of health insurance are welcome, including Medicaid and Medicare. Mosaic Health Mount Morris also accepts patients without insurance or with limited insurance. Sliding Fee discounts are available to those who qualify.

Interpreter services are available.
