RPCN Awarded United Health Foundation Behavioral Health Integration Grant
Rochester, NY – January 12, 2015 – Regional Primary Care Network (RPCN) will improve access to care for individuals in need of behavioral health services at three of its Community Health Centers thanks to a three-year $1,430,707 grant from United Health Foundation.
Through this project, RPCN’s Rushville Community Health Center, Utica Community Health Center, and its sub-recipient, Genesee Health Service, will be able to deliver fully-integrated behavioral health services to better assist patients in a primary care setting. Staff will soon include licensed behavioral health providers and dedicated behavioral health care managers. Quality improvement activities will be put in place, all staff will be trained extensively, and a HIPAA-compliant teleconferencing network will be installed for communication between the Centers and the psychiatrist at Rochester Regional Health System.
“We look forward to being able to better serve our communities by integrating behavioral health into our health centers,” says Michael Leary, RPCN President and CEO. “We have spent the last couple of years transforming our medical and dental practices to meet the demands of health care reform, we added diabetes and asthma programs, implemented an electronic health record, our providers have become meaningful users of this health record, and we have achieved the highest level of recognition as Patient Centered Medical Homes. I believe we are now in the perfect position to add behavioral health services and to continue to improve the overall health of the communities we serve.”
